San Francisco Chinatown 2

Chinatown streets are favorite places for tourists to visit and explore. There are many gift shops and restaurants here. There are lots of people on the streets during the weekends.

Chinatown 3A Chinese school that local kids go to learn Chinese in the afternoon. Many of the local kids go to both English school during the day and go to one of the Chinese schools in the afternoon. They all speak both English and Chinese in Chinatown.

San Francisco view - Chinatown

San Francisco Chinatown is one of the oldest Chinatown and largest in the world outside of China. This is the most densely populated area of San Francisco. Many new and old Chinese immigrants reside here. It is the most culturally rich part of San Francisco. Tourists can see Oriental structures, authentic Chinese culture and taste many different Chinese foods here.

ChinatownThrough this Gateway will lead tourists from all over the world to the San Francisco Chinatown.

ChinatownA pair of stone lions welcoming visitors to Chinatown. The lions are symbols of strength, good luck and prosperity. They will bring good luck and good fortune to those who pass through the gateway.

San Francisco view - Palace of Fine Arts

San Francisco view of the Palace of Fine Arts.
Palace of Fine Arts is the only building still standing from the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition. It is a magnificent structure built in that era. Many new couples come here for their wedding pictures. My wife and I had our wedding picture here too.

San Francisco view - Tunnel

San Francisco view of the Stockton Street Tunnel.
The Stockton Street Tunnel cuts through the hill connecting downtown and Chinatown. This is the downtown side of the tunnel.
San Francisco Chinatown begins where the light at the end of the tunnel. It is about 4 city blocks long. Pedestrian walkways are on each side of the tunnel. It is a good 5 minutes walk. We use to run through the tunnel when we were kids.

San Francisco view - Downtown


San Francisco view of Downtown Market Street.
A street car with passengers running along Market Street. I still remember the days riding the jam packed San Francisco street car going to school in a cold and rainy day. But most of the time of the year the weather in San Francisco is very pleasant.


An old fountain on Market Street was originally presented to the citizens of San Francisco by Lotta in 1875, a famous entertainer of the time.

San Francisco view of the Embarcadero Center

Every Christmas an ice skating rink is set up outdoors at Embarcadero Center.


Office workers come here for lunch to get away from their cubicals in the skyscrapers.

San Francisco view - The Embarcadero

San Francisco waterfront.
The Embarcadero is the new waterfront, redeveloped from the old waterfront after the1989 Earthquake. (For those who may remember there was the a freeway here)
It brings together a lots of tourists and locals here to enjoy the view of the San Francisco Bay in the open.


A new park with a giant bow and arrow sculpture.


The old Ferry Building has transformed into a indoor market place of fresh produce and fancy restaurants and offices within. On each Saturday there is an outdoor farmers market .

This Cable car will go up the hill on California Street and end at Van Ness Avenue.
Along the way it will pass across Chinatown and tourists will see a great view of San Francisco at the top of the hill.
